Father Adam Westphal
Father Adam Westphal was born in Iowa City but moved to Des Moines before entering kindergarten. Fr. Adam went through school at Holy Trinity, and he is an alumnus of Dowling Catholic and the Franciscan University of Steubenville. He was a professed atheist in high-school, but had a conversion experience on a Teens Encounter Christ weekend. The encounter led him to study theology and philosophy at Steubenville. After College he served a missionary in Austria for 8 months, where he trained under and worked with an organization called Kerygma. After returning to the United States, Fr. Adam worked for Coca-Cola and became active at Holy Trinity as a Knight of Columbus, a member of the choir, as a leader on Christ Renews His Parish, and as a MC. He also helped teach RCIA at St. Mary of Nazareth Parish, and worked with the youth at St. Francis of Assisi Parish. He was accepted into seminary by Bishop Richard Pates, who ordained him to the priesthood June 7, 2013. St. Anthony’s is his first assignment.
