Introduction

There is a movement emerging these days among those involved in the ministry of
catechesis. It’s new. It’s vibrant. And it’s full of hope! It’s called “Whole Community
Catechesis”. The name, “Whole Community Catechesis” reminds us that we begin
Christian faith formation in the parish community. When we proclaim the Gospel we do so in the Christian community inviting people to conversion and the following of
Christ.

In proclaiming God’s Word Christ instructs us, from which we get the word
“catechesis” (literally means instruction). For us to receive good instruction we first
must turn our hearts to Christ, and prepare ourselves to be shaped and molded in His likeness each and every day of our life. We have an upcoming opportunity to deepen our commitment to Christ in our “Whole Community Catechesis” Retreat.

Who is this Whole Community Catechesis for? It is for parents, young adults, parish
leaders, parish staff, and those involved in the various ministries of the parish. Parents this ongoing catechesis is important if you hope your children will follow you in the faith.  In order to pass the faith onto your children, would it make sense for you to better know Christ yourselves? Young Adults, we know your life can be overscheduled, yet how will you grow and mature in your faith unless you make time to deepen that commitment.  Whole Community Catechesis is an opportunity to take the time.  Parish Leaders, if Christ is not at the center of your life, then how can we hope for spiritual growth and success in serving the Lord in all that happens in our community?

Parish & School Staff and those involved in the various ministries, turning to the
Lord daily is essential for ministry, and turning together as leaders can bring even
greater blessings.

For our Senior members, what better time than now to deepen your own faith and to invite others to follow you? Those struggling with faith come meet Christ with us.
