Posted on Tue Mar 25 2008 I want to announce the formation of a new "Pillars of the Parish" program. Every year we will name ten or so men and women to the "Pillars of the Parish" Hall of Fame. Their pictures will be displayed in a special area. During the Corpus Christi procession we will ask that family members of the nominees participate in the procession and during the dinner following the procession there will be a special ceremony to honor the recipients. I have established a committee to review several names. Next year we will ask for names from the parish, but this year – to get the ball rolling – I have elected to name some of the most venerated "Pillars of the Parish" to the Hall of Fame. They are:
Mr. Natale Marasco, Donor of the marble altars
Mr. Anthony Comito, Donor of the yearly Christmas & Easter decorations
Mr. Ralph Paone, Donor & tailor of Mass Vestments
Mr. Louie Delli, Donor of Church ornamental iron works
Mr. Ignatio Leto, Creator of the traditional Christmas Crib
Mrs. Lucille Green, Coordinator in school cafeteria
Mrs. Clara LaBonia, Assistant in school cafeteria
Ms. Mary Allessio, Cared for Altar linens & cloths
Mrs. Helen Folsom, Housekeeper for many priests
Ms. Mary Cardamon, Assisted with counting the Sunday offering and clerical duties.
A recipient must have been a long term member of the parish, and have contributed greatly to the parish in terms of time, talent and treasure.
