TOTUS TUUS Special Message from Fr. Dooley!!
Posted on Tue Jul 28 2009

I would like to take this opportunity to invite the parish of St. Anthony to welcome the Des Moines Diocese‘s TOTUS TUUS team. This year the team is made up of four college age young adults: Chris Wadle, Kelly Dineen, Maria Critelli and Des Moines seminarian Brett Rauzi, who will present the Catholic faith in a way that is both informative and fun. This is our 2nd TO-TUS TUUS experience and I look forward to the week being a complete success. As of this printing, we have 50 students registered for this inspiriting, faith filled week. The elementary students will participate from 9 in the morning to 3 in the afternoon, Monday through Friday. The focus this year is on the Virtues, the Joyful Mysteries of the Rosary and the Beatitudes. Of course, the highlight of each day will be Holy Mass at 11:30 am. The fast pace of the day with pump up, four classes, snacks, songs, recess and lunch makes the day go quite quickly. I from through the grapevine, that several students could not wait for TOTUS TUUS to return.

Each evening there will be a gathering for our High School students to come and have some fun and enter into a discussion on a topic like: The meaning of life, what truly makes a person happy, The Sacraments especially Reconciliation and Eucharist. Along with the fun and games the Team will lead a Holy Hour for the teenagers with Exposition Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament.

I personally would like to thank Marianne Wadle and Rose Marie Vasquez for coordinating St Anthony‘s TOTUS TUUS week. Thanks also to Bishop Pates for his support in bringing TOTUS TUUS to the diocese. The Team has been to St Theresa, Des Moines: Sacred Heart, Chariton; All Saints, Stuart; St Joseph, Des Moines; and now St Anthony. Next the Team will go to St. Bernard‘s, Osceola and finish up at Christ the King here in Des Moines. It is my hope that TOTUS TUUS will encourage our young people to say to
Jesus I am "Totally Yours".
