Liturgical Ministries

Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion

Extraordinary Ministers, either at Mass or in visits to the homebound, recall and instruct how Jesus established the Blessed Sacrament of His Body and Blood and that He died for us. They receive detailed training and a complete instruction manual for Homebound Ministers.
These ministries are open to all confirmed members of the parish in good sacramental standing with the Church.

For more information, please email Deacon Frank Lopez or call our parish office at 515-244-4709.

St. Anthony Master of Ceremonies

The Master of Ceremonies (MC) assists Fr Chris Reising and all Priests in all liturgical celebrations. The MC plays a vital role in the liturgical celebration by assuring all clerical and lay ministries are in attendance and prepared to enter into the solemnity of the liturgical celebration.

The MC should be male, fully initiated in the Catholic Church, and leading a sacramental life. Ideally such a person would have been familiar with altar serving and have a deep desire to serve at the Altar. He should be willing to become familiar with ceremonial rites of both the ordinary (English) and extraordinary (Latin) forms of the liturgy in the Latin rites. The understanding of both forms of the Latin rite will enrich his understanding of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.

Master of Ceremonies: Marco Balmaceda

St. Anthony Altar Servers

Are your children interested in altar serving? Becoming more involved with Saint Anthony’s at a young age encourages strong faith and a connection with the parish community. Beginning in the fourth grade boys and girls are invited to serve Mass, funerals and weddings. Saint Anthony Parish welcomes all children to contact us for more information about the services they could be involved with. Please complete and return the following permission form to the business office to become an Altar Server.

Lectors

Lectors, through study and effective presentation of the Word of God in the Old and New Testament readings, contribute to the build-up of faith for the people of God, the congregation. Lectors receive training, and workbooks containing all readings with helpful guides and suggestions about presenting and pronunciation.

St. Anthony Ushers and Greeters

Ushers and greeters perform a very important ministry. Greeters welcome people as they arrive for Mass. Ushers assist seating people, taking up the offertory collections, coordinating gift bearers and distributing weekly bulletins after Mass. We invite you to become involved with our community by volunteering to help with the Ushers and Greeters ministry.
